What is a boost control solenoid for?
You will need a boost control solenoid if you are connecting
an electronic boost controller. These solenoids are used to plumb in &
bleed off the pressure in a pneumatic boost control system – More simply, most
external wastegates and internal wastegate actuators.
Can I use this for an aftermarket ECU?
Yes. While we provide
these as a spare for our Award winning Turbosmart eBoost 2 & street, they
are an excellent solution alongside aftermarket & motorsport engine
management aswell as working perfectly as an upgrade to many OEM ECU.
What is the different between 3 & 4 Port?
Other than the number of ports? A 3 Port solenoid provides
single port control of an actuator and is a simple & common method. 4 Port on
solenoids on the other hand are used for Twin Port control & connected to
both sides of the diaphragm. This 4 Port solenoid & connection method allows
for a greater tuning down.
Why should I upgrade my boost control solenoid?
The Turbosmart range of Boost Control Solenoids are proven
in motorsport and on the road to provide the response, flexibility, and reliability
where many other will let you down.
How are they wired in?
The Turbosmart Boost Control Solenoids are not polarized meaning
you cannot get the wiring wrong – they will work both ways. The best results
are achieved with + 12v to one wire & a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) signal
to the other.
